Eligibility for a home based program

Who can attend a home based pulmonary rehabilitation program?

Include patients:

With COPD or other chronic lung conditions

Who are willing to participate

Exclude patients who have:

Significant cognitive impairment

Severe psychotic illness

Musculoskeletal, neurological or cardiovascular conditions that prevent exercise

A condition that requires direct supervision whilst exercising

Are not able to use, or do not have access to, a telephone

Do not live in an appropriate environment

Participants may have very mild or quite advanced disease – the program can be adapted accordingly.

Participants may have (and are likely to have) several co-morbidities. Unless these conditions significantly affect their ability to exercise, they should be considered for a pulmonary rehabilitation program.
